The Retreat is sited in the beautiful Butte Creek Valley and is surrounded by unique geology, sagebrush, juniper hills, hay fields and pastures.

Fossil is located on the 45th parallel. Incorporated over a century ago, Fossil has a population of 450. Fossil sports a museum, interpretive center and public fossil beds at Wheeler High School. There is an airport available within 25 minutes of the Ranch at Condon, Oregon. Transportation is available upon request. The Portland Airport is 180 miles from Fossil. The Redmond Airport is 96 miles from Fossil.
