Wilson Ranches is a working cattle and hay ranch located in Wheeler County in North Central Oregon. You can enjoy a wide range of activities on the ranch with horseback riding, cattle drives, spring branding, calving, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, photography, and observing the local wildlife: mule deer, antelope, elk, coyotes, badgers, squirrels, beaver, game and birds of prey.
"The things I love most about taking guests out on a horseback ride or a 4x4 Ranch tour are: Watching the tension disappear from peoples faces as they enjoy the movement of the horse, the look of awe as they see the vista of over 300 miles, and as they absorb the quiet and solitude Wilson Ranches Retreat has to offer. I feel a great sense of accomplishment when that occurs. When I thank you for riding with me it is not so much for the business, but because you have enriched our lives." Phil Wilson

WRR is at the Northwestern gateway to the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. A few minutes drive to the public fossil digging located at the football field of Wheeler High School, a one half hour dive to the Clarno Unit (Hancock Field Station), and a one hour drive to either the Sheep Rock or the Painted Hills Unit. Some of the Clarno Formation is located on Wilson Ranches so a horseback, hiking or 4x4 trip may be of interest to guests at WRR.
Guests can also enjoy the Kinzua Hills Golf Course, Condon Golf Course, Rodeos, Movie Theater, Pine Creek School House, and museums. Fishing (bass, steelhead, trout) and River Rafting trips can be arranged on the John Day River.
